You’ve probably heard Gary Vee talk about putting out 10 to 15 pieces of content every day. The guy’s everywhere. It clearly works for him—but is that advice actually helpful for independent podcasters?

During Tuesday’s episode of the Podcasting Morning Chat, listener Mike Short brought up Gary’s content strategy. And sure, it’s effective…if you’ve got a massive team, a content repurposing machine, and endless resources. But let’s be honest, most podcasters don’t have that kind of setup. Most of us are juggling a podcast, a business, a family, and maybe even a day job.

Here’s the thing. I’m all for showing up consistently, but there’s a big difference between consistency and burnout. If you’re trying to post a dozen times a day on multiple platforms, especially if you’re still figuring out who your audience is or how to connect with them, you’re going to wear yourself out fast. And you’re going to wonder why it’s not working. In otherwords, strategies that work for one person, especially someone with a big brand and deep pockets, don’t always translate to someone just getting started or established.

Plus, keep in mind that Gary Vee’s strategy has been one he’s talked about for a long time now. And what worked yesterday might  be losing steam today. Audiences evolve. Platforms shift. Tactics get old. So copying someone else’s blueprint without understanding your own goals and bandwidth? Not a great move.

It’s not that big creators give bad advice. It’s just that their advice is often based on where they are now or what got them there, not where you are. Context matters. A lot.

So what’s my advice? Start by figuring out what you can sustain. What do you enjoy creating? Where does your audience actually hang out? Focus on building real connections instead of chasing volume. One meaningful post can go a lot further than ten pieces of filler content.

Consistency matters but your version of consistency might look like one post a week. And that’s okay. Focus on your voice. Build from there.
