🤝Community Spotlight: Podcasthon and Hurricane Helene Relief

Â
Last week, on the Podcasting Morning Chat, I highlighted the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene and the incredible resilience of affected communities. As I shared on the show, this special episode was part of Podcasthon, a week-long, marathon podcasting event aimed at raising funds and awareness for the favorite charities and organizations of podcasters all over the world!
I was joined by Marilyn Ball, host of “Speaking of Travel,” who shared remarkable firsthand accounts of community heroism. From neighbors lifting cars off trapped individuals to residents standing roadside directing others to safety and essential resources, these inspiring stories showcased the unwavering spirit of Asheville.
Marilyn also shared how Asheville’s rich history played a significant role in fostering the resilience seen today. She explained how the community’s long standing values of unity, local support, and civic engagement provided a strong foundation for their quick response and ongoing recovery.
Tourism remains vital for Asheville’s recovery, and visitors now have the unique opportunity to support and participate in this community’s powerful comeback story.

🎙️Podcasting Tips: Enhancing Your Audio Quality
Great audio quality keeps listeners engaged. Here are a few simple tips to elevate your podcast’s audio:
- Invest in a Good Microphone: You don’t need to break the bank, but a decent microphone can make a world of difference.
- Choose a Quiet Recording Environment: Minimize background noise by selecting a quiet space and using sound-absorbing materials.
- Use Pop Filters: These help reduce plosive sounds and ensure a cleaner recording.
- Edit Thoughtfully: Spend time in post-production to balance levels, remove unwanted noise, and enhance clarity.
Remember, great content deserves great sound!
