👕Engagement Beyond the Mic & A Challenge!

Posting to social media fills me with about as much excitement as a trip to the dentist. There. I said it. (Sorry dentists!) 🪥 Keep reading below for social media tips, how a frog 🐸 saved my social media game, and how you can grow your social media (and win a free t-shirt)! 👕

From the Podcasting Morning Chat discussion we had last week about social media growth: Here are a few tips to get the social media growth results without the pain of producing endless content:

  1. Genuine Engagement

Genuine interactions reign supreme on social media. It’s not just about broadcasting your content; it’s about sparking real conversations and building a community that resonates with your voice. When you thoughtfully engage with others’ content, you’re not just another face in the digital crowd—you’re becoming a memorable part of your audience’s social media experience. Comment with insight, react with authenticity, and watch as your engagement transforms from fleeting glances to meaningful connections. Remember, every emoji, every comment, every share is a stepping stone towards a thriving community. Let’s make social media social again!

  1. Pick a Platform

Hate it or love it, social media is your frenemy. It’s all fun and games until you’re knee-deep in hashtag hell. But let’s flip the script. Instead of going all-in on every platform, choose your battlefield. Where does your audience hang out? Is it Instagram with the cool visuals or LinkedIn with the thought leaders? Dive deep, not wide, and invest your time where it pays off in genuine connection and community growth.

  1. Behind-the-Scenes

Gone are the days of picture-perfect content. What’s trending is raw, unfiltered, and genuine material. If painting your basement is the highlight of your week, show it! If your toddler decides to hijack your live stream with a profound babble, let it ride. It’s these bits of authenticity that can make your audience feel like they’re part of the family. Offering candid behind-the-scenes peeks, the secret sauce to keeping your listeners hooked is to be consistently you, unpredictably engaging, and to keep them guessing what’s next.

🐸How a Frog Saved Me on Social Media

I wasn’t enjoying making Reels a couple of years ago. My enthusiasm was also dampened by a battle with hackers that had me at my wit’s end. But as a gift to myself, I ordered a childhood dream. 📦✨ A Kermit the Frog replica, crafted by a seasoned pro from Jim Henson’s creative realm, landed on my doorstep, reigniting the embers of my childhood wonder. 🐸💚 My love for The Muppets and especially that green dude, really shifted my social media energy.

Suddenly, it all clicked. I integrated Kermit into my Reels, and like magic, the weight of content creation lifted. Kermit didn’t just add a dose of nostalgia to my videos; it infused them with joy and a genuine spirit that resonated with my followers. My posts transformed into a playground of creativity, with each ‘It’s not easy being green’ becoming a mantra for my newfound love for social media. 🌟🎥 With Kermit by my side, the content felt real, heartfelt, and undeniably fun.

This wasn’t just about finding joy in the content again; it was a masterclass in authenticity, a reminder that when you share what you genuinely love, the world listens. So, if you’re struggling to find your groove, ask yourself—what’s your Kermit?
