14 Feb 💖For the Love of Podcasting
👋Hey there Podcaster!
💌Happy Valentine’s Day!
As podcasters, many of us have a lot of love for podcasting. When we hit ‘record’, we get to share our thoughts and experiences with the world. It’s pretty exhilarating to think about! The creative freedom of podcasting, the potential impact to listeners, and the opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals in the podcasting community can certainly lift our spirits and expand our hearts. But is it sustainable and can it potentially lead to podcast heartbreak? I have some tips in this email to help you avoid that! Read Below! 👇
Hope you are feeling the podcast love not just today, but throughout your time as a podcaster.
💔How to Avoid Podcast Heartbreak
🤩 Many podcasters tend to go all in on their podcast when creating & launching their show. The love is strong!
😱 And then at some point, they start to realize the honeymoon is over (i.e., podfade) and the symptoms of Podcast Heartache begin:
💔 Losing that ‘loving feeling’ of podcasting.
💔 Feeling frustrated about the time spent podcasting.
💔 Feeling confused and alone while podcasting.
Address these symptoms of Podcast Heartache so you can keep that love for your podcast strong and make your audience fall in love with you all over again!
💔Losing that ‘loving feeling’ of podcasting? Try these tips!
💖Podcast in seasons: Create heart-felt hype and excitement for each new season rather than the endless creation and production of episodes.
💖Reduce the frequency of episodes: Trying to create too many episodes every month can lead to stress and overwhelm, take a longer break between episodes to recharge your heart!
💖Reduce the length of episodes: Creating and producing shorter shows will give you more time back and you can stick to the heart of the material!
💔Feeling frustrated about the time spent podcasting? Try these tips!
💖Time to delegate: what can you delegate? Show notes, editing, production, graphics, promotion, and social media. Feeling tugs at your heart to let go of something so important to you? Find the right help!
💖Who can do the work: Ask a friend in the business for a referral, seek out an intern to test the waters, get to know ChatGPT (or another AI), or reply and ask me! A fellow podcaster who has delegated knows the heartache of releasing control, so seek advice where it counts!
💖Sometimes less is more: Take a break from the normal process and do a quick or no-edit upload of the podcast. Stop promoting it as you normally do and assess the analytics to see the impact to be able to make informed decisions of your time and effort. Do your listeners notice and skip a heartbeat?
💔 Feeling confused and alone while podcasting? Try these tips!
💖Strengthen your community: starting your own community or joining an existing one with fellow podcasters who can help re-engage your love of podcasting by feeling the energy of others.
💖Where are your people: Facebook groups, Clubhouse, local groups, meetups, etc. Need help finding your crew? Reach out to me and hit reply, we have a Facebook group and Clubhouse rooms every weekday all around empowering podcasters. I sincerely cherish and am proud of the community we have grown there and value each relationship that has formed as colleagues, mentors, support-system, and friends.
💖Find your audience: The best people to communicate with could be your audience. Where do they hang out in person and online? It doesn’t have to be your actual audience, but your ideal audience avatar. You can get to know your niche better and find more ways to relate that you can use in your podcasting. Ask for feedback from your audience! Hearing the love from your listeners goes a long way to make you feel energized in what you do. The most fulfilling part of the journey can be hearing how your podcast has inspired someone, made their day, or lifted their spirits.
🤖My Love of AI
I have fallen in love with AI recently, and I can’t be the only one with how well the AI industry is doing!
I have been testing out a lot of AI tools recently and love the time savings and creative help they provide. My Reel last week is a test for the viewer to see if you can guess which part was my voice and which was generated by AI. Can you hear the difference and guess correctly?
🎣Catch Me Live on Instagram Today!
On Valentine’s Day (Today Tue Feb 14) I am going live with my ADHD coach Brooke on Instagram at noon EST. I would love it if you could join live, but if you miss it, be sure to watch the replay. Be sure to leave a comment so I know you watched! Brooke provides great resources for harnessing your ADHD superpower!
😍A Podcast I Love
Some of the best ways to show love to fellow podcasters is to listen to an episode, leave a review, follow them on social media, like/comment on their post, save/share their post, and let others know about the podcast and why you like it. So I will show some love now and share a podcast I love.
One of my favorite podcasts is a comedy podcast called ‘The Pete & Sebastian Show’. Two A-list comedians, Pete Correale and Sebastian Maniscalco, get together once a week to create a tight comedy radio show with stories and comedy bits. Sebastian Maniscalco happens to be one of my favorite comedians and this show with his buddy Pete reminds me a lof of my podcast, The Marc and Lowell Show.
