🌊Riding the Wave of Innovation: A Podcaster’s Guide to Navigating New Social Apps (Threads)

We all know the thrill when a new social app emerges. TikTok, Clubhouse, and now Threads – they’re like shiny new toys, aren’t they? The big question is always, “Do we dive in headfirst or sit back and watch the show?” There’s a risk of missing the first wave of followers and connections that early adopters often enjoy. Remember our Clubhouse chat last week? Most of us agreed that jumping into Threads felt like stepping into a new universe where we could reveal different facets of our personalities and thought processes.

Sure, Clubhouse may have lost some of its initial shine, but it’s still buzzing with activity and community. As for Threads, it’s too way early to pass judgment. But as podcasters, we know the importance of keeping an eye on these new platforms. They’re potential goldmines for connecting with our audience, fellow podcasters, guests, and even sponsors.

So, you’re ready to dip your toes into a new social app? Here are three steps to get you started:

  1. Brand Yourself: Create your profile pic and bio. Threads makes it a breeze to import your Instagram profile, but take a moment to spruce it up. Is your bio still fresh? Does your profile picture reflect your current vibe? Make sure everything is up-to-date and truly represents you and your podcast.
  2. Connect and Network: Threads also lets you bring your Instagram followers along for the ride. But don’t stop there! Engage with the people interacting on your friends’ posts and expand your network.
  3. Create Fresh Content: Resist the urge to simply copy-paste your content across platforms. New platforms are hungry for unique content and fresh perspectives. Give the people what they want!

Embarking on a new platform can feel like a race to be the most innovative, make the most connections, and create the biggest splash. But remember, authenticity is key. Stay true to yourself, your podcast, and your brand while exploring and having fun on these new platforms. Let’s ride this wave of innovation together, podcasters!

Are you already making a splash on Threads and I haven’t followed you yet? Reply and let me know! Let’s connect!
