16 May 🔌 The Power of In-Person Networking
🔌 The Power of In-Person Networking
Last night we had our Podcaster Meetup at Brewers at Yancey in Charlotte, co-hosted with Riverside and Empowered Podcasting. Megan Shields with ChimeHouse Media helped me to plan and put on this event! It was such a great time and I’ll be sure to share a recap next week. For now, here’s some pictures!
🔌 The Power of In-Person Networking
As a podcaster, I often felt confined within the boundaries of my digital world. Especially in recent times, social media’s reach has seemed almost non-existent. However, in-person networking has completely changed my experience. Here’s a glimpse of what I shared on my recent podcast about the impact of face-to-face connections:
1️⃣ Expanding My Network
Meeting fellow podcasters and industry professionals in person has opened up a world of new collaborations, sponsorships, and invaluable friendships. The connections I’ve made at live events have significantly broadened my network, creating opportunities that I never imagined possible.
2️⃣ Finding Inspiration
There’s a unique energy at live events that sparks creativity and ignites passion. Hearing first hand stories, strategies, and fresh ideas from other podcasters has inspired me to elevate my own content. The inspiration I gain from these events is unmatched by anything I find online.
3️⃣ Learning from Fellow Podcasters
The insights I’ve gained from experienced speakers and attendees at in-person events have been invaluable. These interactions have provided me with practical tips and advice that have helped me grow and improve my podcast.
Ready to experience the benefits of in-person networking? Here is an upcoming event you won’t want to miss:
- June 28-30 at the Hyatt Centric: Attend the Empowered Podcasting Conference for a deep dive into the world of podcasting with industry leaders and fellow enthusiasts.
Don’t miss out on incredible opportunities to connect, learn, and grow your podcasting journey!
📖 Turning Interviews into Stories
When I first ventured into podcasting, my interviews felt like typical Q&A sessions—clear but somewhat uninspired. Over time, I discovered that storytelling could turn these interviews into something truly captivating.
So, how do I transform a podcast interview, which relies heavily on the guests, into a journey that my audience can’t help but listen to?
1️⃣ Start with Credibility
Rather than beginning with a long bio read, I dive straight into questions that build my guest’s credibility through their own stories. This approach immediately sets the stage and demonstrates to the audience why they should stay tuned for the entire interview.
2️⃣ Build a Personal Connection
Next, I incorporate questions that reveal the guest’s personal side—their quirks, challenges, and triumphs. My goal here is to help forge a connection that encourages the audience to invest emotionally in the conversation.
3️⃣ Deep Dive into Valuable Content
Once the audience is hooked, I delve into the core of the conversation. This segment is designed to provide the insights and answers my audience is eager for, all while ensuring the guest’s narrative stands out.
4️⃣ End with Reflection
To conclude, I guide the guest to reflect on their journey, sharing valuable takeaways and lessons learned. This wrap-up leaves the audience both satisfied and contemplative, closing the interview with a memorable punch.
By following these steps, I’ve learned to transform straightforward interviews into engaging storytelling journeys, making my podcast a must-listen for my audience.
