3️⃣ Ways To Ignite Your Podcasting Passion
What sparks the passion for podcasting? For some it’s stumbling on an engaging show, for others it’s seeing someone close to them start a podcast. But one thing is clear – behind every podcast is an inspiring story of what lit that initial fire.
In a recent ‘Podcasting Morning Chat’ discussion, podcasting pros shared the genesis of their podcasting journey. Three key insights emerged that can help spark your own passion:
🪝Hook Listeners With Authenticity
Several participants cited the raw, authentic nature of early podcast episodes as the catalyst for their show’s growth. Rather than obsessing over bells and whistles, focus on sharing genuine experiences, struggles and triumphs. Audiences will connect with authenticity over polish.
🧠Repurpose Content Thoughtfully
Breathing new life into old content through thoughtful repurposing provides benefits beyond time savings. Add a new introduction to a past episode, reflecting on your show’s growth. Light editing and trimming improves quality. Repurposing done right keeps content fresh.
👂Listen To Your Audience
Pay attention to feedback. If listeners want new or different content, adjust accordingly. Grow your show based on audience input, not assumptions. Pay attention to the analytics to get an idea of what your audience gravitates to. Let your community guide the evolution. Listening = learning.

📽️Spotify for Podcasters and Riverside
Spotify for Podcasters has recently deepened its partnership deal with Riverside, a platform synonymous with high-quality podcast production. These two companies have had a partnership since 2022. Now, Spotify podcasters can record and edit via Riverside directly within the Spotify web platform.
This change led Spotify to refocus podcaster tools and will sunset a few podcaster features by June 2024:
- Web and mobile native creation tools for building podcast episodes. Content will still be able to be uploaded for podcast episodes. Spotify recommends downloading content in their builder to save for future episodes. This is now replaced with Riverside features that allow you to record, edit, and publish your episode within the Spotify web browser.
- The Music + Talk feature that allowed podcasters to play Spotify licensed music in their podcast. Spotify noted that this feature didn’t provide much impact in the podcasting space beyond music-related podcasts. Spotify invested in this ‘experimental’ tool for over three years, but ultimately decided to give it the ax and noted that it didn’t provide any monetization for podcasters. Spotify emphasized that existing published content will not be changed.
- The Record with Friends including Voice Message features. Riverside will now be able to provide podcasters a recording tool with guests.
It is understandable if Spotify podcasters may have some concerns or confusion about this change. If you would like to discuss it on our Podcasting Morning Chat podcast, come join us on Clubhouse Mon-Fri 7-8am US-EST.
