This week, Sid Meadows shared the story behind Core Foundations, a private podcast he created to help onboard and educate new professionals entering his industry.

What struck me wasn't the technology. It wasn't the platform. It was the shift in thinking.

Most podcasters hear the words "private podcast" and immediately think subscription revenue. Sid challenged that assumption. A private podcast can be training. It can be coaching. It can be bonus content. It can be community access. It can be a resource that solves a specific problem for a specific group of people.

One moment that stood out was when Sid explained that the transaction doesn't necessarily have to be money. It simply needs to be a trigger that grants access. That opens the door to a lot of possibilities for creators who want to deepen relationships with their audiences.

The bigger lesson is that monetization often starts with identifying a problem worth solving. The delivery method comes second.

A great podcast interview can create a meaningful connection.

Unfortunately, many of those connections quietly disappear after the episode goes live.

That was the focus of our conversation with Junaid Ahmed and the work he's doing through PodGlue.

We talked about something many podcasters experience but rarely discuss. We spend hours preparing for guests, recording conversations, editing episodes, and promoting releases. Then we move on to the next booking.

The relationship becomes a transaction instead of an asset.

The conversation pushed us to think differently about what happens after the interview. Following up. Staying connected. Looking for opportunities to support the people who support our shows. Creating systems that help us remember and nurture those relationships over time.

Downloads matter. Relationships matter too.

One of my favorite moments came when she described creating her Earbuds Podcast Collective newsletter. She didn't wait for permission. She didn't wait for the perfect opportunity. She built something that solved a problem she saw in the podcast community and stayed consistent with it for years. That simple idea eventually opened doors to conferences, partnerships, speaking opportunities, and a career in podcasting.
